Juist, affectionately known as “Töwerland”, enchants with endless sandy beaches, natural dune landscapes and the soothing tranquillity of a car-free island. Explore the charming island village with its small stores and cozy cafés, stroll along the wide beach or relax on a horse-drawn carriage ride. Relaxation is the top priority here - perfect for anyone who wants to get away from it all. Juist also offers a relaxing experience for dog owners: dogs are welcome on many paths and on the beach. After an eventful day, the return journey takes you comfortably back to Greetsiel, where your North Sea vacation on the dyke continues.

First you cycle along the dike to the 65-metre-high Campen Lighthouse from 1892, whose steel construction is reminiscent of the Eiffel Tower. Continue inland to the village Campen with its agricultural museum and two imposing churches. Via the outer ring of the village of Woltzeten you cycle through the villages of Groothusen, Hamswehrum and Upleward back to the campsite. The sea shell route is ideal for an afternoon excursion without much time to get to know the area better. Idyllic and full of discoveries, so do not forget your camera. Osterburg Over a short stretch of the outer dike, the route leads through the East Frisian marshland and the village Hamswehrum to Groothusen. The East Frisian "chieftain's castle" Osterburg with a view of the dike lies three metres above sea level. The more than 530-year-old castle is one of the oldest secular buildings in East Frisia. During a guided tour you can learn about the historical peculiarity of the stone house and its past on the Wadden Sea. Friends of homemade cuisine and creative cakes and tarts will get their money's worth in the charming bistro and café. Enjoy the enchanting castle garden with a view of the castle.     The tour takes you along the outer dike with a view of the Wadden Sea to the Leysiel floodgate. Don't forget your camera, because there are some beautiful photo motifs on this route. Please note that the dike cycle path can only be used at weekends. During the week, the route is closed due to dike works. Schleuse Leysiel Salty, healthy sea air, a sky stretching to the horizon, grazing sheep – enjoy the endless expanse of the East Frisian North Sea coast on a quiet ride with a fresh breeze on the western outer dike. The route takes you through a sheep grazing area along the dike, past the Pilsum lighthouse towards Greetsiel. As the headwind on the dike can be very strong, an e-bike is recommended for this tour – even for sporty cyclists – which you can rent at our campsite. The destination – the Leysiel floodgate – is at the tip of the headland near the Ley Bay. The floodgate was completed together with the Leysiel flood barrier in 1991 and is the only way out of Greetsiel harbour into the North Sea.
