Region East Frisia

Our campsite is located in Upleward on the west coast of East Frisia, directly behind the dyke in the Lower Saxony Wadden Sea National Park. The flat landscape is characterized by extensive meadows, fields and countless watercourses such as canals. The 18 so-called Warfen villages in this region are particularly typical: before there were dykes, people built their settlements on artificial mounds, the Warfen, to protect themselves from flooding. The interplay of high and low tide created the unique Wadden Sea, whose flora and fauna have adapted perfectly to the constant changes.

Discover East Frisia from a cultural and culinary perspective: stroll through the charming fishing village of Greetsiel, stroll through the port city of Emden or enjoy regional specialties in cosy tea rooms and restaurants. The idyllic surroundings invite you to go hiking and cycling - almost car-free on well-maintained paths.

The nearby East Frisian Islands are also a special experience. Take a day trip to the car-free island of Juist, known as the “Töwerland” (magic land), or to the lively island of Norderney, which perfectly combines a nature experience with a charming seaside resort atmosphere. You can easily reach both islands from the surrounding harbors and experience the special peace and beauty of the North Sea up close.
