East Frisia region: Experience natural wonders and coastal charm

Holiday in the Lower Saxony Wadden Sea National Park

Our campsite is located in Upleward, right on the west coast of East Frisia and directly behind the dike. Here you are in the heart of the Lower Saxon Wadden Sea National Park – a UNESCO World Heritage Site characterized by the fascinating interplay of ebb and flow.

Discover the unique features of our region:

  • Mound villages: Explore the 18 typical villages of the region, built on artificial mounds (warfs) to withstand the floods before dikes existed.

  • Open countryside: Enjoy the tranquility amidst expansive meadows, fields, and the countless canals that make East Frisia so unique.

Actively explore the coast

The idyllic surroundings invite you to enjoy extensive hikes and bike tours. On the partially developed and almost car-free paths, you can cycle at a relaxed pace through the marshland.

Culture and cuisine: Greetsiel & Emden

Discover East Frisia's delightful side:

  • Greetsiel: Stroll through the charming fishing village with its historic twin windmills and picturesque shrimp boat harbor.

  • Emden: Wander through the nearby port city and visit museums or the famous "Otto Huus" (Otto House).

  • Tea Time: Savor regional specialties in cozy tea rooms and restaurants – a true East Frisian tea ceremony is simply a must!

Island hopping: Juist & Norderney

A truly special experience awaits you on excursions to the East Frisian Islands, easily accessible from the surrounding ports:

  • Juist Island: Visit "Töwerland" (Magic Land). This car-free island captivates visitors with its endless sandy beaches and tranquil atmosphere.

  • Norderney Island: Experience the perfect blend of lively seaside resort life and unspoiled nature.

Enjoy the unique peace and beauty of the North Sea up close and let yourself be enchanted by Frisian charm!
