  • Region East Frisia | Camping am Deich

Get to know East Frisian culture. Visit the fishing village of Greetsiel or the seaport town of Emden. BOOK NOW CHECK AVAILABILITY BLOG Region East Frisia Our campsite is located in Upleward on the west coast of East Frisia, directly behind the dyke in the Lower Saxony Wadden Sea National Park. The flat landscape is characterized by extensive meadows, fields and countless watercourses such as canals. The 18 so-called Warfen villages in this region are particularly typical: before there were dykes, people built their settlements on artificial mounds, the Warfen, to protect themselves from flooding. The interplay of high and low tide created the unique Wadden Sea, whose flora and fauna have adapted perfectly to the constant changes. Discover East Frisia from a cultural and culinary perspective: stroll through the charming fishing village of Greetsiel, stroll through the port city of Emden or enjoy regional specialties in cosy tea rooms and restaurants. The idyllic surroundings invite you to go hiking and cycling - almost car-free on well-maintained paths. The nearby East Frisian Islands are also a special experience. Take a day trip to the car-free island of Juist, known as the “Töwerland” (magic land), or to the lively island of Norderney, which perfectly combines a nature experience with a charming seaside resort atmosphere. You can easily reach both islands from the surrounding harbors and experience the special peace and beauty of the North Sea up close. Upleward Greetsiel Emden Juist

Schleuse Leysiel Salty, healthy sea air, a sky stretching to the horizon, grazing sheep – enjoy the endless expanse of the East Frisian North Sea coast on a quiet ride with a fresh breeze on the western outer dike. The route takes you through a sheep grazing area along the dike, past the Pilsum lighthouse towards Greetsiel. As the headwind on the dike can be very strong, an e-bike is recommended for this tour – even for sporty cyclists – which you can rent at our campsite. The destination – the Leysiel floodgate – is at the tip of the headland near the Ley Bay. The floodgate was completed together with the Leysiel flood barrier in 1991 and is the only way out of Greetsiel harbour into the North Sea. BOOK NOW CHECK AVAILABILITY BLOG WiFi connection on our campsite We have invested a lot in the infrastructure of the Wifi network in recent years to provide you with the best possible internet connection. Our wireless access points and powerful network devices have the same goal: to extend the reception capabilities and amplify the Wifi signal into remote areas of the campsite. The area-wide network at our campsite is designed for up to 5000 end devices simultaneously. Our contractual input power with our network provider EWE Glasfaser is 1000 MBit. Please make sure that you are connected to our Wifi network "Camping am Deich". A Wifi symbol should appear at the top right of your display ᯤ. Check the bandwidth with the speed test . If your Internet connection does not work immediately, we have summarised the most important points for you. You can find out here what sources of interference there are and how you can solve Wifi connection problems: What are the sources of interference on the campsite? The network is weather-dependent – strong wind and rain have a negative effect on the connection. Are there trees, walls or caravans in the way? You can find out exactly where the masts are located on the attached map. Are you using an outdated terminal device that does not have a good antenna and therefore a weaker transmission power? Other electronic devices such as microwaves can interfere with radio signals. What do you have to do if you don't have WiFi? Connection is best when a Wifi mast is visible in the direct vicinity. Use a Wifi repeater or extender to pick up and amplify the Wifi signal. Please do not park the caravan directly in front of a Wifi mast so as not to interfere with the Wifi. The campsite is completely occupied and every guest uses WiFi. How much bandwidth is left per user? We have not set a limit per user. So the guests get up to 50 Mbps download. However, if the entire campsite is occupied and all guests are streaming or using Wifi access at the same time, each user is automatically throttled down by our router. Therefore, we cannot say exactly how much bandwidth each user has. Camping am Deich – Wifi System If you still do not have Wifi connection, please contact our reception directly. Our team can then check this in the system and test it with you on site. And always remember: You will get the best rest even without internet. We wish you a wonderful holiday!
